As marketing manager for Object Computing, Inc., a software engineering company, I write, edit, proofread, polish, and publish technical articles written by our engineers for a target audience made up of programmers and computer science specialists.
Movie Reviews
My first love is the cinema.
My bachelor's degree is in film studies. I started working in movie theaters at age 16 and have spent many of my adult years working as a projectionist and as a theater manager. I also taught screenwriting for the Chicago Screenwriters Group for several years and worked as a film critic for a Chicago magazine for a while.
Even when I'm not being paid for it, I make a top 10 list every year and often write movie reviews just to get my thoughts out of my head and entertain my friends. Here are some movie reviews I've written over the years.
Book Foreword
Object Computing, Inc., where I serve as marketing manager, founded and supports the maintenance and continued development of the open source application development framework, Micronaut®.
In 2021, in preparation for the publication of the book, Building Microservices with Micronaut, Object Computing's Micronaut Foundation was asked to write the foreword.
Although credited to "The Micronaut Foundation," the foreword is my work.
COVID Lockdown Entertainment Guide
This is a lighthearted piece requested by our human resources department to help ease the transition to our company-wide work-from-home situation.
Lock, Paper, Scissors Website
One of my favorite freelance clients was Lock, Paper, Scissors. This Australia-based company publishes print-at-home escape games for players of all ages. The brand voice is lighthearted, humorous, geeky, and incredibly fun to embody.
Core Values
The attached core values statement was written for a client. The client had general ideas for values, but no distinct list.
I took the non-specific notes provided and divided the ideas into seven values, then composed descriptions based on what I knew of the company culture and objectives.
Nowescape Blog
For several years, I was the go-to freelance writer, copy editor, and blog coordinator for an Estonian escape-room booking system called Nowescape.
In some cases, I was provided topics to research and write blog posts and articles. More frequently, I was given posts written by guest authors, most of whom were not native English speakers, and asked to copy edit them.
Once the content was written or edited and approved, I collected appropriate images and prepared the content for publication on WordPress.

Quora Answers
When working for Nowescape, I often answered Quora questions about escape rooms on behalf of the company. While there, I occasionally stumbled across other questions to which I knew the answers and responded to those, too.
